Founded in 1871, UW River Falls is a liberal arts university based in the Twin Cities region of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The Twin Cities can be a great place for students to live and study, offering both a wide range of cultural locations such as the聽Weisman Art Museum聽and the Guthrie Theatre, and events such as the Great River Energy bicycle festival, and the 10,000 Laughs comedy festival.

There are a total of four colleges at UW River Falls;聽Agriculture, Food聽& Environmental Sciences, Arts & Sciences, Business & Economics, and Education & Professional Skills. Among the graduate opportunities available to students are two Master of Business Administration courses, and there are also a wide range of Adult Completion Programmes.

Associated with the Music department is the聽St. Croix Valley Symphony Orchestra聽is a non-profit organisation dedicated towards exploring a wide variety of repertoire for its student performers, and performs concerts in the valley eight times a year.

Athletics teams are known as the Falcons, and compete in the NCAA Division III. There are five men鈥檚 sports programmes and nine women鈥檚, including tennis, volleyball, and soccer. The new Falcon centre on campus is a 162,000 square feet facility that will house classrooms, a human performance laboratory, and state of the art gymnasiums.

Notable alumni of UW River Falls include comedian Michael Nelson, journalist and author Cathy Wurzer, congressman Mark Neumann, and astronaut聽Daniel Brandenstein. The university motto is 鈥楪lobal. Innovative. Excellent.鈥櫬

South Hall and North Hall, built in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries respectively, have been placed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places for their cultural significance and stunning architecture.

This position is situated within the Centre for Immersification, dedicated to applied research in immersive technologies and bridging the gap between academia and industry. Research staff at the Centre have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets relevant to industry demands while working on innovative projects within the university. The research team is seeking a Research Fellow or Research Engineer with strong expertise in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and social science methodologies to lead the user research and policy development, as part of an interdisciplinary team investigating harmful user-generated content in virtual worlds as part of a national research initiative on Online Trust and Safety. The primary responsibility of this role is to investigate users鈥 experiences with harmful content in these virtual environments, review existing reporting guidelines on these platforms, and evaluate users鈥 responses to alternative mechanisms. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of faculty members, engineers, and industry partners, including labs at the College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) at NTU. Technical skills, natural curiosity, versatility, and enthusiasm are highly desired traits that will enable success in this fast-paced environment.
