Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Financial Year Ending 31 December 2025
Introduction
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes the Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for The World Universities Insights Limited and Companies in the Bologna Topco Limited group (together, “THE”) for the financial year ending 31 December 2025. The statement has been approved by the Board of Directors and is signed by the Chief Executive Officer on behalf of the organisation.
Our Business
We are a leading global data provider serving the higher education sector. Our products and services include data-driven insight tools, strategic consultancy and agenda setting events (including student recruitment fairs), alongside hiring solutions and in the moment sector news. Our products enable everyone in higher education to make smarter, more informed decisions.
Our Commitment
We are committed to conducting our business ethically and with integrity. We do not tolerate modern slavery or human trafficking in any part of our business or supply chains. We expect the same high standards from our suppliers, contractors, and business partners.
Policies and Governance
To support our commitment, we have established a number of policies and controls that collectively help to mitigate the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking:
- Code of Business Ethics
- Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy
- Fraud Prevention Policy
- Whistleblowing Policy
- Supplier Code of Conduct (where applicable)
We ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws, including those relating to pay, working hours, and working conditions, and expect our suppliers to uphold similar principles.
Operational Risk Assessment
The nature of our business—data services, analytics, publishing, events and consultancy—means that our operations are primarily office-based or conducted on client sites, using our own employees. We assess the risk of modern slavery within these activities to be low.
Supply Chain Risk
Our supply chain consists mainly of professional services, IT infrastructure, distribution, and marketing support. Most suppliers are based in the UK or other low-risk jurisdictions. Nonetheless, we recognise the need for ongoing vigilance, particularly in relation to:
- IT equipment and hardware procurement
- Print and production services for publications (where applicable)
- International service providers in regions with weaker labour regulations
We undertake supplier due diligence as part of our onboarding and renewal processes, including ethical conduct reviews where relevant.
Due Diligence and Supplier Engagement
Where suppliers are considered to operate in higher-risk categories or regions, we may:
- Request formal confirmation of their compliance with the Modern Slavery Act or equivalent legislation
- Require acknowledgment of and compliance with our ethical standards
- Engage in ongoing monitoring through contract review cycles
Training and Awareness
To enhance awareness of modern slavery risks, we will:
- Provide internal guidance and awareness sessions for relevant staff on recognising and reporting potential issues
- Review and update training materials to reflect emerging risks and legal developments
- Encourage a speak-up culture through our Whistleblowing Policy
Future Steps
We are committed to continual improvement.In the next reporting period, we will:
- Review our supplier due diligence processes to identify enhancements specific to human rights risks
- Take steps to raise awareness within the business of the Modern Slavery Act
