Established in 2004 as a private not-for-profit institution, the University of Nizwa is located in the historic former capital of Oman - Birkat Al Mawz.?
Since its inaugural class of 1,200 students, the university has expanded a great deal, both in physical size and in the number and diversity of programmes. With a total enrolment of almost 10,000 students in its four colleges (including international students from 19 countries), it now offers some 30 undergraduate majors, six master’s programmes and two PhD programmes. It has faculties of arts and sciences; economics, management and information systems; engineering and architecture; and health sciences.?
It is currently in the process of developing a new campus to support its continued growth.
The university offers students traditional exchange programmes as well as virtual exchange schemes. Of its academic staff, 55?per cent are international. The university has a variety of partnerships with more than 50 institutions from 17 countries.?

Description

The RNA Modifications, Intellect, and NeuroDegeneration (RNA-MIND) Laboratory in collaboration with the Center of Brain and Health of New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Research Assistant to join our laboratory focused on stem cell biology, neuroscience, and molecular mechanisms of human disease.

The successful candidate will work with human cell lines, embryonic stem cells, and iPSCs, including their generation, characterization, and differentiation into cortical neurons and brain organoids. Experience with organoid culture, cryo-sectioning, microscopy, and MEA functional assays is highly desirable.

Expertise in CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing (knockout and correction) and in NGS workflows—such as ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, miRNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq preparation, and CUT&RUN—is strongly valued. Strong grounding in molecular biology techniques (Western blot, Northern blot, immunostaining, PCR/RT-qPCR, cloning, RNA work) is expected. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment that includes collaboration with fellow post-doctoral associates, senior and junior scientists, and undergraduate students. They will also benefit from the support of established Core Bioinformatics and Sequencing Platforms and High-Performance Computing facilities.?

Applicants for the Research Assistant position must have at least a bachelor’s degree in biology or other related fields from an accredited institution of higher learning. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential for working in a highly collaborative environment.

The National University of Singapore invites exceptional candidates to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position in Visual Arts and Cultures. Scholars of all research specializations relevant to the field are encouraged to apply. We seek scholars with strong publication records in leading journals and university presses who are also accomplished educators capable of teaching across multiple levels - from introductory courses for non-majors to graduate seminars - and who can develop interdisciplinary connections within the arts and humanities.

For the Visual Arts and Cultures role, we especially welcome applicants whose expertise spans more than one of the following areas: history and theory of modern or contemporary art, architecture, design, or visual/material culture; visual studies (including visual anthropology); literary and cultural studies; cultural theory and criticism; exhibition studies; and curatorial studies. Applicants whose research includes practice-based or creative methodologies are also encouraged to apply, particularly where these intersect with scholarly inquiry in those fields.

While we do not require a regional specialization, candidates with research expertise or professional experience in Southeast Asian art, visual culture or exhibitions will be favourably considered.

Programme Information

The Art History Minor at NUS is one of the top-ranked programmes in the field internationally and is housed in the Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS).
