The University of Makati is a public local university in Metro Manila, Philippines, operated by the City Government of Makati. It was established in 1972 as the Makati Polytechnic Community College before undergoing several name changes, becoming Makati College in 1987, Pamantasan ng Makati in 1991, and adopting its current name in 2002.

The institution has grown from a technical and vocational college into a comprehensive public university offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Its academic structure includes institutes and colleges covering business and financial science, computing and information sciences, engineering and construction sciences, nursing, pharmacy, arts and design, tourism and hospitality management, governance and public policy, and law. 

It also operates a senior high school and several specialised institutes focused on technical and professional education.

Student life at the University of Makati is shaped by a large and diverse student population of around 12,500 learners. The university encourages student participation through the Supreme Student Council.

Athletics and sports play a significant role in campus life, with teams competing in inter collegiate leagues and university events. The university’s sporting identity is associated with the “Hardy Herons”, with students participating in both competitive and recreational sporting activities. There are also cultural groups in music, arts and performance.

It combines academic training with practical learning, supported by facilities such as lecture buildings, laboratories, performance spaces and a central administrative complex.
