Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) is a private university in Indonesia founded in 2005 by the Kompas Gramedia Group, one of the country’s leading media and publishing organisations. The university began academic operations in 2007 with four faculties and has since developed into a multidisciplinary institution with a strong emphasis on information and communication technology, media, and the creative industries.

UMN is located in Gading Serpong, Tangerang, in the Banten Province of Indonesia and within the Scientia Boulevard area, a modern urban district. The campus itself is purpose-built and strikingly modern, and is widely recognised for its green campus initiatives, including eco-friendly building designs and energy-efficient lecture facilities, reinforcing its sustainability-focused philosophy.

The university is comprised of four academic faculties: ICT/engineering, communication science, business, and arts and design. It offers a variety of undergraduate programmes including informatics, information systems, electrical engineering, communication science, management, accounting, film, visual communication design, and architecture. Its Continuing Education division further supports lifelong learning, offering skills-based courses designed to enhance career development, including language training and industry certification preparation programmes.

A defining feature of UMN is its strong emphasis on experiential learning and industry integration. Students benefit from access to professional-standard media studios, collaborative laboratories, and specialised technology spaces designed to replicate real industry environments. Entrepreneurship is encouraged and supported through Skystar Ventures, the university’s business incubator, which enables student start-ups and innovation projects to develop.
