It is located in the city of Malang. Initially part of Muhammadiyah’s Jakarta university, it became independent in 1968.
Students study across its main campus in Bandung, known as the "White Campus" for the colour of its walls, and campuses in Sutami Dam and Raya Thogomas.
It now has 10 faculties. These are economics and business, social and political science, teacher training and education, psychology, law, agriculture and animal husbandry, engineering, veterinary science, medicine, health and Islamic studies.
Student community projects include assisting small businesses, helping villagers devise and sell products though e-commerce and an automatic plant-watering system.

The Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies (HCAS)?is an independent institute of the University of Helsinki. In accordance with the concept of an institute of advanced study, HCAS provides an excellent international research environment for scholars in the humanities and social sciences. The purpose of HCAS is to facilitate curiosity-driven, original research and interdisciplinary interaction between different fields of research. The working language of HCAS is English.

The Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies invites applications for fixed-term appointments to begin in August-September 2026. We are looking for

10–15 FELLOWS

representing the career stages of early career (post-doctoral researchers), mid-career (university researchers) and full professors (Visiting Professor). Professorial fellows are appointed for a term of six to twelve months, university researchers for one to two years, and post-doctoral researchers for one to three years.

Who can apply

Successful candidates have the ability to produce high-quality research in the humanities or social sciences. We particularly encourage bold applications that rethink the theoretical foundations of a given research area or discipline or aim at integration of different theoretical approaches. In addition to detailing their academic merits and research project, applicants should, in the application, explain how they will contribute to the interdisciplinary research environment of the Collegium. Applicants should also indicate whether they have plans to collaborate with the researchers of the University of Helsinki and if so, how. Eligible candidates must have completed their doctoral degree before the application deadline.

Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate scholarly excellence relative to their career stage. The merits of post-doctoral researchers should indicate a promise of scholarly excellence. University researchers should have an internationally recognized research profile and the ability to contribute to the direction of their own field and to lead a research group. Visiting Professors should have the qualifications of a full professor with a distinguished track record in research, academic leadership, international collaboration, and success in attracting external research funding.

What we offer

HCAS provides a collegial and inspiring research community that allows fellows to pursue their personal research projects free from administrative duties. All core fellowships at the Helsinki Collegium are salaried positions. The salary level will be determined according to the salary system of Finnish universities. For fellows in the early career stage (post-doctoral researchers) the monthly gross-salary ranges between 3800€ and 4100€, for fellows in mid-career (university researchers) between 4500€ and 5500€, and for full professors (Visiting Professors) between 6500€ and 8300€. All core fellows are entitled to an annual personal allowance of 4000€ for travel and other research expenses. Fellows’ offices are located on HCAS premises at the heart of the University of Helsinki on the City Centre Campus, with easy access to libraries and other university services.

The Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences at the University of Helsinki is seeking

UNIVERSITY LECTURER?in?biostatistics

for a permanent?position starting no later than 1?January?2026.

We are seeking a university lecturer with proven expertise in teaching and research in biostatistics, particularly as applied to ecology, evolutionary biology, or experimental biology.

The university lecturer will be primarily responsible for teaching statistics and scientific computing courses at the bachelor's level, with possible contributions to master's-level teaching within the Faculty. The university lecturer will develop teaching in this field together with other teachers in the program, act as a supervising teacher, guide thesis work, and conduct scientific research. The teaching duties of university lecturers in the Faculty account for 40-60% of the total working time. ?The selected candidate is also expected to actively take part in teaching planning and administration.

In terms of research, we particularly value expertise in biostatistics as applied to ecology, evolutionary biology, or experimental biology tha complemnts expertise in?the Organismal and Evolutionary Biology Research Programme[LAL3]?.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The candidate is required to hold a doctoral degree, have experience and evidence of scientific research, and have experience in high-quality, research-based teaching and thesis supervision.

The evaluation criteria for the university lecturer consist of three main areas:

	Pedagogical competence


Research merits:


	Evidence of active publication activity in recent years

Applicants selected for the shortlist will be required to provide a teaching demonstration in Finnish. Teaching skills are assessed at the University of Helsinki when filling teaching and research positions, and the successful candidate must be evaluated as having good teaching skills (see?assessment matrix).

According to the Universities Act, a university lecturer must have proficiency in the language of instruction, either Finnish or Swedish. The lectureship is based in the Organismal and Evolutionary Biology Research Programme, which brings together diverse research in organismal biology, evolutionary biology, and ecology. The programme employs diverse research approaches ranging from ecology, molecular biology, evolutionary biology to genomics and bioinformatics. The research produces and utilises large-scale datasets in ecology, bioinformatics, and metabolomics, or the study of cellular metabolites.?The up-to-date infrastructures and working environment in the university’s Viikki campus and biological research stations offer a strong support for research and teaching.

The position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and diverse research and teaching community. You will be able to implement research-based, top-level education in the field in Finland and be part of internationally respected and high-quality scientific research activities. The position provides an opportunity to develop one's own professional competence in a multidisciplinary work community. The work is supported by the teaching and research staff of the research programme and the faculty, as well as the administrative and technical staff of the Viikki campus. In addition to the facilities and research infrastructure that are currently available, the Faculty will provide a startup package to the appointee.

The salary of the position is based on levels 6–7 of the demand level scale for teaching and research staff in the universities' salary system. In addition, a salary component based on personal performance is paid, resulting in a gross salary of EUR 4,200–5,300 per month. The position will be filled during a probationary period of six months.

The newly established NYUAD Wireless Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a?Post-Doctoral Associate (PDA)?to engage in cutting-edge research on the development of omni-band wireless systems for 6G and beyond. The PDA will be jointly supervised by Elza Erkip, Qurrat-Ul-Ain Nadeem and Murat Uysal.

Principal Responsibilities


	The PDA will conduct research on the physical layer and MAC layer design for wireless systems, particularly across multiple spectrum bands.
	The PDA is expected to actively disseminate results through publications in high-impact journals and presentations at leading international conferences.
	The PDA is expected to contribute to the intellectual property development through patent filings, as well as participating in international standardization efforts relevant to wireless technologies, in coordination with academic and industrial collaborators.


Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD degree in electrical/electronics engineering, telecommunications or related field. Other requirements include:


	Strong background in wireless communication systems and networks
	Expertise in physical layer and MAC layer design for wireless systems
	Proven track record of publications in relevant IEEE journals and conferences


In addition to the?above qualifications, it is highly desirable that the candidate has prior research experience in one or more of the following research topics:


	Resource allocation for wireless networks
	Radio resource management and mobility management
	Cognitive radio or adaptive communication systems, including dynamic spectrum access, band selection
	?Heterogeneous network architectures, including terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks
	Deep learning for wireless communication problems, particularly in areas such as spectrum management, adaptive system design, or cognitive radio.

The ?Hub for Applied Bioinformatics?(HAB) is the Faculty’s focal point for computational biology, delivering bespoke bioinformatics support and training across genomics, transcriptomics, spatial biology and AI/ML projects. We co-lead the Applied Bioinformatics MSc, run practical workshops, and we recently partnered with
KCL’s Spatial Biology Facility, an advanced centre equipped for high-resolution spatial transcriptomics and multiplex imaging, to turn large-scale data into actionable insights for both fundamental and translational research.

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Bioinformatician to join the Hub for Applied Bioinformatics (HAB) within the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London. Reporting to the Director of the HAB and working in close partnership with the Spatial Biology Facility, you will lead the development and optimisation of high-resolution spatial biology and multi-omics data analysis pipelines. Your primary focus (80% of your time) will be on leading spatial transcriptomics and imaging genomics projects, integrating bulk and single-cell RNA-seq datasets, and applying advanced statistical and machine-learning methods (AI/ML) to extract novel biological insights that drive our translational and fundamental research programmes.

In addition to your research leadership, you will play a central role in education and training (20% of your time). You will co-lead a core module on our Applied Bioinformatics MSc, designing the syllabus, delivering lectures and hands-on tutorials, setting and marking assessments, and mentoring students. You will also develop and deliver bespoke HAB workshops on core bioinformatics topics (spatial biology, AI/ML, statistics) and support researchers across the Faculty to build their computational skills.

As Senior Bioinformatician, you will be responsible for maintaining reproducible, scalable workflows and for liaising with wet-lab scientists, statisticians and facility staff to ensure data integrity and robust analysis.

You will contribute to grant applications, support publications in high-impact journals, and help shape the future direction of HAB activities.?? This is a full-time (35 hours per week) contract and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
