The university was established in 1983, evolving from a veterinary medicine and animal science school founded in 1978. It became a university in 2004 and later adopted its current name in 2005.
It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in medicine, nursing, veterinary medicine, animal science, agricultural engineering, environmental sciences, pharmaceutical chemistry, chemistry, law, business administration, international business, finance, public accounting and sports science. It also provides technical and professional training programmes.
The main campus is located in Bogotá and is divided into several sections. It includes laboratories, veterinary clinics, simulation centres, amphitheatres, sports facilities and specialised teaching spaces. The South Campus serves as a key centre for health sciences education.
Student learning is practical, with laboratory work, clinical training and field based education forming a core part of study. Facilities support applied learning in both health and animal sciences.
The university has a student population of around 6,300 and maintains academic networks across Latin America through regional and international partnerships.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to design, develop and evaluate schemes for quantum key distribution networks and systems.

Key Responsibilities:


	Participate in the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
	Design, develop and evaluate solutions given problem statements in key generation and relaying across multiple hops in quantum key distribution (QKD) networks.
	Demonstrate functionality of solutions.
	Document and publish the project works.


Job Requirements:


	Have relevant knowledge in the areas of quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols, e.g., BB84, E91, MDI, TF, etc. If there is no prior experience, it is acceptable if the candidate can self-learn the knowledge within a short time (e.g., 1 month).
	Have a degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent. Possessing a Master’s or PhD degree will be advantageous.
	Experience in designing, developing and evaluating solutions for a given problem statement using simulation tools, such as Matlab, Python, etc., and documenting and publishing the works in technical reports or papers.
	Knowledge of network placement optimization for various topologies, e.g., Erdos-Renyi random network, scale-free, small world, etc, will be advantageous.

	Understand existing quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols, networks and systems.
	Able to perform resource placement optimization in computer/communication networks.
	Proficient in technical writing and analytical skills.
	Show strong initiative and take ownership of work.

The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering (Civil & Urban Engineering) seeks to recruit a Junior Research Scientist to work on a broader field of geotechnical engineering.

Required Qualifications:

A successful applicant must have a B.S. in Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with any level of experience, or a Master’s degree and less than 5 years of research experience in the relevant field.

Research Project:

The successful candidate will assist a research project focused on advancing the design, testing, and analysis of resilient and sustainable geotechnical systems using centrifuge modeling. The work will bridge advanced experimental testing with complementary numerical simulation to generate insights for infrastructure and energy applications.

The researcher will be expected to:


	Assist in design, implementation, and analysis of centrifuge experiments.
	Integrate findings with numerical models for validation and deeper interpretation.
	Assist in development of innovative experimental apparatus (SolidWorks proficiency is a plus).
	Disseminate results through high-quality publications in reputable journals.
	Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team of faculty, postdocs, and students.

	Centrifuge experimental modeling, including test design, execution, instrumentation, data collection, and result interpretation.
	Preferred: Experience with CAD and modeling tools, such as SolidWorks, for experimental design and apparatus development.

Description

The Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) at NYU Abu Dhabi invites qualified applicants with a doctorate degree in the areas of electrical or computer engineering or computer science, or related fields to apply. A strong publication record is encouraged and previous experience in areas such as Neural network vulnerabilities and defenses, Anomaly detection, Adversarial machine learning, Computer vision, and Autonomous Robots is desired.

The successful applicant will work on various projects on robotics and computer vision, controls, and machine learning and their security. The work will include algorithm design, prototype implementation (e.g., in MATLAB/Python), deployment to robotics applications; onboard computational hardware using the Robot Operating System), and experimental testing (on unmanned vehicle swarms). A solid competency with the standard implementation tools used in machine learning and embedded systems (e.g., C, C++, Linux, PyTorch, TensorFlow, MATLAB, Python, Robot Operating System) is required.

The position is open to PhDs with backgrounds in AI, and/or computer vision and robotics/controls, and with less than 5 years of experience after receiving their PhD. The candidate is expected to work in a highly collaborative multi-disciplinary environment with other post-doctoral associates, PhD and undergraduate students, as well as faculty members (both in NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU New York). It is expected that applicants have a strong publication record in the aforementioned areas. The applicants are also expected to have strong analytical, communication, and writing skills.

As a Senior Lecturer (Biomedical Engineering), you will play a pivotal role in advancing both research excellence and teaching innovation within a vibrant and collaborative environment.

	Establishing and leading a high-impact research program aligned with the Harry Perkins Institute, with a particular focus on cardiovascular biomechanics and translational biomedical engineering.
