Taiz University was officially established in 1993 in order to expand access to higher education in the Taiz Governorate of Yemen.
The university is located in Taiz, Yemen’s third-largest city and an important cultural and commercial hub.Ěý
Taiz University began as a branch of Sana’a University’s Faculty of Education in the 1980s before becoming an independent institution. It now comprises eight faculties: education, science, medicine, arts, administrative sciences, law, engineering, and information technology, with an additional Faculty of Education, Arts and Sciences in Al-Turbah.Ěý
In addition, it operates five science and research centres focusing on language, community service, environmental studies, training, and cultural activities.
ĚýIts research spans disciplines including biology, chemistry, engineering, medicine, and the social sciences, with a growing emphasis on collaboration with other national institutions.
