The Social Machines and Robotics (SMART) Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi focuses on the development of socially intelligent machines (computer applications, robots, Virtual Agents) that are capable of interacting and communicating in a natural way with humans, expressing through their figure a high degree of social intelligence, with a focus on applications in education and healthcare.

The SMART Lab seeks to recruit a motivated and passionate Junior Research Scientist to work under the supervision of Dr. Hanan Salam on topics including: (i) Human-Machine Interaction, (ii) Social Robotics, (iii) Artificial Intelligence for Diagnosis and Therapy of Individuals affected by Neurodevelopmental Disorders, (iv) Bias in AI.

Key Responsibilities:


	Design, develop, and evaluate human-centered AI systems for SMART Lab research projects.
	Support data collection and experimental pipelines involving human participants, multimodal data, or robotic platforms.
	Publish research findings in high-impact journals and conferences.
	Communicate and present research findings at international academic conferences.
	Create, maintain, and document high-quality research code for reproducibility.
	Collaborate with PhD and post-doc researchers in the lab.


Minimuim Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or prefered Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Robotics, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or a related field.


	Strong programming skills, preferably in Python, with experience in machine learning and data analysis.
	Familiarity with one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, natural language processing, computer vision, multimodal learning, affective computing, human-robot interaction, social robotics, or human-centered AI.
	Experience with machine learning frameworks, data processing libraries, APIs, web development, robotics platforms, or experimental research methods is desirable.
	Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written communication)
	Willingness and capacity to work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.
	Self-motivated with an ability to work independently and in a team to get the work done.
	Willingness to learn and confront new challenges.

The Center for Brain and Health (CBH) (https://brainandhealth.org/) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a Research Scientist to explore scientific questions related to an in-progress normative brain database. The Research Scientist will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team responsible for collection, c, MEG, EEG, and eye tracking. The tentpole of the CBH is a normative brain database - the first of its kind in the region - that includes structural, functional, and diffusion MRI, behavioral and health measures, genetic information, and lifestyle questionnaires

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Psychology, MR Physics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field. Postdoctoral experience or equivalent is preferred. This position requires extensive experience with multimodal MRI, including functional and structural MRI and tractography. Experience with big data analysis techniques is essential. Experience working with other large brain databases is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess strong computational skills and a strong publication record. Job Purpose

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.

The primary responsibility of this role is to coordinate all aspects of the intervention and study processes, including recruitment, planning, implementation, liaison with stakeholders, monitoring, data management, outcome evaluation and dissemination activities. This will be a part time role.

Key Responsibilities


	Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.
	Undertake these responsibilities in the project: 
	
		i. Coordinate day-to-day study operations, including project timelines, participant scheduling, and study logistics
		ii. Maintain study documentation, recruitment logs, screening records, and project trackers
		iii. Coordinate meetings and communications among investigators, support workers, clinicians, and participants
		iv. Ensure intervention fidelity and adherence to the study protocol
		v. Manage study resources and intervention materials as required
		vi. Assist with participant screening, recruitment, enrolment, and follow-up activities
		vii. Support informed consent procedures in accordance with the study protocol and ethics requirements
		viii. Maintain participant engagement and retention throughout the study
		ix. Conduct participant assessments and administer study outcome measures according to protocol
		x. Support the implementation of home-based exercise interventions
		xi. Provide training, briefings, and ongoing support to support workers to enable the safe and consistent delivery of interventions
		xii. Monitor participant progress and support exercise progression or modification within study guidelines and delegated scope
		xiii. Liaise with support workers to monitor intervention delivery and adherence
		xiv. Monitor and report adverse events or safety concerns in accordance with ethics requirements

Department of Land Surveying and Geospatial Science

The Department of Land Surveying and Geospatial Science (LSGS) (retitled from the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics in July 2026) is a world-leading academic organisation for education and research in geomatics and related fields. The Department is dedicated to the acquisition, modelling, analysis and management of spatially referenced data for a wide range of applications in land surveying, geo-information technology and smart cities. Job Functions

(b)    attainment of an academic rank of full professor or above at an internationally recognised university;

(c)    a distinguished international reputation in research and scholarship, and demonstrated leadership in any one or more of the specialist areas of (i) Space & Planetary Technology, (ii) Earth Observation & Climate Resilience, (iii) Geospatial Intelligence, (iv) Smart Cities, (v) Spatial Data Science, and (vi) Sensing and Imaging for Robotics, or other related fields;

(d)    a strong record in attracting competitive or/and interdisciplinary research funding;

(e)    a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching;

(f)     a global perspective, proven qualities of academic leadership, and substantial administration / management experience, as well as demonstrated ability of building up a strong team of faculty members with different professional, research and cultural backgrounds; 

(g)    effective interpersonal communication and resources management skills, and excellent adaptability to changes and challenges; 

(h)    good knowledge of the higher educational environment in the local and global context, and preferably strong industrial experience; and

(i)     a high standard of personal integrity.
