About Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University

Basic information and contact details for Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University

Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University is set on 245 acre campus in the city of Sakon Nakhon, Thailand. First founded under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education as Sakon Nakhon Teachers’ Training School in 1964, the university went on to offer a programme of higher education in 1966 when students were awarded a certificate of advanced education, which was equivalent to an associate degree. By 1970, the school had morphed into Sakon Nakhon Teachers’ College and by 1975 it started to award bachelor’s degree of education. In 1995, King Bhumibol Adulayadej gave the name Rajabhat Institute to all teacher colleges and upgraded them to universities nationwide, and so it became Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University thereafter. Today there are six faculties including the humanities and social sciences, education, agriculture technology, industrial technology, management science and science and technology. Each programme requires students to take compulsory education course, which includes information on the theory of education, educational psychology, teaching studies and practice. In addition, students can choose from a variety of elective modules in their second year of study. The bachelor’s degree also requires students to take part in an internship at a school.
