Pwani University is a public university in Kenya located in Kilifi County along the coastal region north of Mombasa.聽
The university was established in 2007 by a presidential order and originally operated as a constituent college of Kenyatta University. It developed from the former Kilifi Institute of Agriculture before becoming an independent university.
It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across education, humanities, social sciences, business and economics, pure and applied sciences, agricultural sciences, environmental and earth sciences, health sciences and graduate studies.
The main campus covers approximately 239 hectares and includes lecture halls, laboratories, academic buildings and facilities supporting science, agriculture and environmental studies.
Student life includes academic study alongside community engagement and outreach activities focused on areas such as agriculture, public health and rural development. The university also supports student organisations and welfare programmes.
Pwani University has a student population of approximately 8,000 and continues to expand its academic and research activities, particularly in disciplines relevant to coastal development and environmental sustainability.
