Basic information and contact details for Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar
Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar (Poltekpar Makassar) is a public higher education institution in Indonesia, specialising in tourism and hospitality education. Its history dates back to 1991, when it was established as the Tourism Education and Training Centre (BPLP) in Ujung Pandang to address the growing need for skilled professionals in the tourism sector. In 1997, the institution became the Makassar Tourism Academy, and in 2015 it achieved its current status as a tourism polytechnic. Since then, it has developed into a leading provider of vocational education in tourism, particularly serving eastern Indonesia.
The polytechnic is located in Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi, a vibrant coastal city and a key gateway to eastern Indonesia. The campus supports practical, industry-oriented training through specialised facilities, including hospitality labs, training kitchens, and simulation environments. Its location in a main tourism hub allows students to engage directly with the hospitality industry.
Poltekpar Makassar is organised into three main departments: hospitality, travel, and tourism. Across these subject areas, it offers diploma-level programmes in fields such as hotel management, culinary arts, food and beverage service, travel business, tourism destinations, and convention and event management.
