Papua New Guinea University of Technology is a public university located in Lae in Morobe Province.
Established in 1965, the university has developed into a centre for engineering, agriculture and applied sciences in the Pacific region. It plays an important role in supporting national development through technical education and skills training.
The university offers academic programmes across agriculture, architecture, applied sciences, engineering, information technology, forestry, surveying, business studies and communication for development. Engineering disciplines include civil, mechanical, electrical, communications and mining engineering.
Its main campus is located at East Taraka in Lae, with additional academic activity linked to Bulolo and Kundiawa. Facilities include laboratories, workshops, libraries and field based training environments, particularly for forestry and applied science programmes.
The university has approximately 3,500 students and a substantial academic and technical staff base. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and maintains a strong emphasis on applied education and industry relevant skills.
