Ohio Dominican University is a private institution founded in the Catholic tradition in 1911. Situated in the city of Colombus, Ohio, the university maintains a strong academic focus on the liberal arts.
In terms of academic offerings, the university offers around 50 different undergraduate degrees, and a much smaller number of graduate degrees. ODU’s undergraduate offerings cover a wide range of different subject areas, and are arranged into five different divisions, namely Business, Mathematics, Arts and Letters, Computer and Natural Sciences, and Social and Behavioural Sciences. The university also offers a number of different minors’ programmes in addition to these.
In terms of recreation, like many similar colleges ODU runs its own dedicated athletics team, known as the Panthers. As well as maintaining a number of different dedicated sports facilities such as a stadium and softball field, the Panthers compete in sports such as American football, soccer, baseball, basketball, softball, volleyball and golf, among others.
ODU’s main campus is located within the city of Colombus itself. As well as the sights and sounds of Colombus, the university campus itself sits on a 75 acre plot of land in Colombus’ North Central neighbourhood, and provides a great deal for students in its own right.
A famous alumnus of Ohio Dominican University is Jonathan Sanchez, MLB baseball player.
