About the role

We are seeking an energetic and dynamic communicator with a passion for science communication and engagement. The research programme at the Department is expanding and we are looking for someone to lead on research communications and engagement across multiple new and existing studies. You will lead the development and delivery of external communications across the Department of Twin Research. The role will deliver inclusive strategies to engage underrepresented groups and enhance participant recruitment and experience, while also raising the profile of our resources, researchers and study findings with the public and scientific community.?

You will be a strong content creator with experience in multi-channel communication campaigns. You will design and deliver communications across?press, newsletters and websites to events, videos and social media. King’s College London and its partner NHS Trusts - King’s College Hospital and Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital together have one of the largest chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell programmes in the UK with licensed and experimental CAR-T products being administered for patients with B-cell leukaemias, lymphomas, multiple myeloma, solid tumours and autoimmune disease. It has MHRA accredited GMP facilities for manufacturing of CAR-T cells and other Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs), with 2 academic CAR-T trials due to commence in 2026 for B-cell lymphoma and multiple myeloma.

The Cellular Immunotherapy lab at KCL led by Dr Reuben Benjamin is focused on developing novel CAR-T cells for B-cell malignancies and autoimmune disease, investigating mechanisms of resistance to CAR-T cells and leading academic CAR-T cell clinical trials with in-house manufactured CAR-T cells.

Dr Chris Wincup’s Translational Rheumatology lab integrates translational immunology and immunometabolism to understand and treat systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases, particularly SLE and lupus nephritis. The lab investigates patient cohorts with deep immune phenotyping utilising multi-omics (single-cell sequencing, flow cytometry/CyTOF, metabolomics), cellular bioenergetics, and tissue immunology to discover biomarkers and develop precision, mechanism-guided treatments.?

About The Role

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a dynamic team at King’s College London involved in clinical and translational research of chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cells for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a debilitating autoimmune condition. The postholder will be responsible for evaluating the efficacy of a next generation CD19 targeted CAR-T cell product (pCAR19) against autoreactive B cells in SLE, optimising a GMP rapid manufacturing process for pCAR19 cells from SLE patients and investigating the impact of immunosuppressive and glucocorticoid treatment on the production of pCAR19 cells (ACCELERATE study). Results from this work will form the basis for a planned future phase 1 study of pCAR19 in relapsed refractory SLE patients.

This is a full time (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 30/06/2027.

About the Position

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at QUT has an exciting position for a Lecturer (Level B) / Senior Lecturer (Level C) in structural engineering who is able to provide leadership in both research and teaching within the discipline of Structural Engineering, such as smart materials and their structural applications, smart concrete and sustainable construction materials.

The Lecturer / Senior Lecturer will be working as part of an interdisciplinary team of academics, research fellows, graduate students and industry partners. The role will require participation in fundamental and applied research, including fellowship submissions, grant funding submissions and publications.

This role will also contribute to teaching and innovation in teaching in the structural engineering areas of our undergraduate and postgraduate courses, micro-credentials and professional courses.

This position reports to the Head of School, Civil and Environmental Engineering for supervision, career planning, development, and performance expectations.

Key responsibilities include:


	Undertake high-impact research aligned with QUT’s research focus in structural engineering, with publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
	Develop proposals for research grants and fellowships.
	Effectively engage with industry partners and professional associations at national/international levels.

About the Faculty

The Faculty of Engineering aims to shape the world we live in by engineering sustainable, innovative and liveable environments. Our programs focus on teaching, research and building a better quality of life through advancements in robotics, manufacturing, Al, architecture, and construction.

The Faculty adapts and innovates infrastructure to meet real world challenges such as the growing population, natural disasters and climate change. We pursue high level engagement with a range of sectors to deliver benefits across health, transport, aero-space, manufacturing, mining and agriculture.

Through long-standing collaborations with partners such as BMW, Boeing, Stryker, and Shell, the Faculty remains at the forefront by facilitating learning that is delivered on campus, online and in the real world. Strong industry connections enable us to address complex challenges through research and innovation, as well as offer our students relevant and practical learning experiences.

Our Schools are established around disciplines that promote collaboration in teaching and research. These include the:


	School of Architecture and Built Environment
	School of Civil and Environmental Engineering
	School of Electrical Engineering and Robotics
	School of Mechanical, Medical and Process Engineering.


The Faculty is also home to outstanding researchers of international renown that collaborate with partners to improve systems in robotics, medical, mechanical, mining, food and beverages, oil and gas, energy, water and sugar. Our Research Centres include:


	Centre for Biomedical Technologies
	QUT Centre for Robotics
	Centre for Transformative Biomimetics in Bioengineering
	Australia-China Centre for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine


The Faculty is led by the Executive Dean and the Executive Management Team comprising the deputy dean, heads of schools, and other senior faculty staff.

About the School

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering brings together engineers who deliver teaching and research excellence in the sustainable design, planning, construction and operation of infrastructure and resource management to solve societal challenges and support more liveable communities.

We design and improve infrastructure to address real-world challenges such as overpopulation, natural disasters, and climate change, and we shape the world we live in by engineering liveable and sustainable environments with safe, efficient, and reliable infrastructure.

Our teams are actively engaged in research and teaching in the areas of infrastructure, environmental engineering, and civil construction with key strengths including:

	Climate change adaptation

	Fire safety engineering


Our research is supported by deep industry connections that enable the translation of our cutting-edge research into real-world outcomes. We have a highly capable higher degree research student body, with over 80 students engaged in MPhil and PhD programs. The School’s research is well aligned with the University’s real-world positioning through better partnerships across internal and external boundaries. Our researchers study the natural, built and virtual environments to find ways to make them more sustainable, secure and resilient. Our School also has ties with major QUT research centres, including the Centre for Data Science, Centre for Materials Science and Centre for Agriculture and Bioeconomy.
