Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to design, develop and evaluate schemes for quantum key distribution networks and systems. Key Responsibilities: Participate in the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Design, develop and evaluate solutions given problem statements in key generation and relaying across multiple hops in quantum key distribution (QKD) networks. Demonstrate functionality of solutions. Document and publish the project works. Job Requirements: Have relevant knowledge in the areas of quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols, e.g., BB84, E91, MDI, TF, etc. If there is no prior experience, it is acceptable if the candidate can self-learn the knowledge within a short time (e.g., 1 month). Have a degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent. Possessing a Master鈥檚 or PhD degree will be advantageous. Experience in designing, developing and evaluating solutions for a given problem statement using simulation tools, such as Matlab, Python, etc., and documenting and publishing the works in technical reports or papers. Knowledge of network placement optimization for various topologies, e.g., Erdos-Renyi random network, scale-free, small world, etc, will be advantageous. key Competencies: Understand existing quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols, networks and systems. Able to perform resource placement optimization in computer/communication networks. Proficient in technical writing and analytical skills. Show strong initiative and take ownership of work. Able to work in a team with members of diverse backgrounds.

Dr Jonathan West is Associate Professor in Biomedical Microfluidics. Research is focussed on clinical translation and technology commercialisation to benefit patient care. Jonathan has patented a microfluidic method for understanding platelet activity with potential to predict thrombosis risk and associated heart attack and stroke risk.
