Lindsey Wilson College is a four year institution based on a 200 acre campus in Columbia, Kentucky. The college was founded with affiliation with the United Methodist church in 1903, and became a baccalaureate granting institution in 1985. It is named for the stepson and nephew of founding figure Catherine Wilson.

LWC offers a wide range of academic programs such as art, biology, business & communications, psychology, recreation & tourism, and education. The BA in business administration is fully accredited by the International Assembly of College Business Education, and offers concentrations in accounting, human resources, and management. The graduate division of LWC offers an MA in Interactive Design, and the School of Professional Counselling provides a Master of Education in counselling & human development.

The Fugitte Science Centre benefits from LWC as a smaller institution by offering a personalised at attentive experience to each individual student, and contains extensive facilities with a focus on Biology. The Holloway Health and Wellness Centre provides a swimming pool available to all students, and hosts intramural basketball leagues and dance classes.

Sports teams at LWC are known as the Blue Raiders, with a swashbuckler as the team鈥檚 crest and mascot. Teams compete in the Mid-South Conference, and there are 11 men鈥檚 sports programmes and ten women鈥檚. Cycling is competed at a co-educational level, and in 2012 LWC were national BMX champions.

A lasting tradition at LWC is Malvina Farkle Day. It is named for a mythical college student, and features a morning of community service activities and an afternoon of fun and games. The event has no set date, and students are only made aware on the morning of the occasion through sirens from Adair County鈥檚 fire and police department.

The role Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position to work in the Catalysis for Chemical Circularity Group in the School of Engineering, University of Surrey. The main role of the post holder will be to carry out research to develop a geological inspired mechanochemical-UV process for efficient ROS production, using earth-abundant rock minerals. This interdisciplinary project is in close collaboration with academics in the University of Newcastle, University of Birmingham, and companies in the waste management and plastic production sectors. By participating in the stakeholder engagement, the post holder will gain great insight in the geo-mechanochemistry and plastic chemical recycling field. In addition, as part of a new EPSRC supporting career development initiative, the post holder will be provided with a separate amount of career development funding dedicated for their career development. The main project objectives are: Mineral screening for ROS generation and inter-discipline knowledge transfer. Optimise control parameters with high-throughput mechanochemical platform, and investigate interaction between mechanochemistry and UV. Demonstrate the effectiveness of on-demand ROS generation for polyolefin waste upcycling. About you The successful candidate should hold or be about to receive a PhD in Material Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. You should have a strong background in experimental catalyst design, characterisation and testing. Prior knowledge of mechanochemistry, polymer chemistry and physics, plastic chemical recycling is especially welcomed.
