DeSales University

DeSales University is a Catholic liberal arts higher level institution in Center Valley, US. It is named after Saint Francis de Sales, a French Christian humanist with Jesuit education born in 1567. The university prizes especially one of his sayings -“Let us be what we are and be that well, in order to bring honor to the Master Craftsman whose handiwork we are.” Before 2001, the university was called Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales.
DeSales offers 40 bachelor’s degrees, six master’s degree programmes and two doctorate programmes. 
The university’s athletics teams compete in 16 sports in the NCAA Division III, within the Freedom Conference of the Middle Atlantic Conferences. Men's team sports include: baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and track, and women's sports are: basketball, cross country, field hockey, soccer, softball, track and volleyball. In 2010 and 2011 men’s track and field became MAC champions in outdoor track and field. In 2009 and 2010 DeSales Men’s Basketball won the MAC Freedom Conference tournaments and in 2009 they made it into the Elite 8 of NCAA Tournament’s Division III.
Some of DeSales’s notable alumni include true crime author Katherine Ramsland, federal judge Joseph F. Leeson Jr, former Nickelodeon host Steven Burns, actress Dee Roscioli who acted in the Wicked musical production on Broadway, professor, author and lecturer Peter Augustine Lawler, who also served on President Bush’s Council on Bioethics.

Your workplace:

The Senior Lecturer position is assigned to the Department of Geography and Regional Research (Institut für Geographie und Regionalforschung / IfGR) at the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy. With more than 100 academic staff and 3,500 students, IfGR offers an inspiring environment for addressing urgent societal challenges in research and teaching from a geographical perspective. As Senior Lecturer, you will be involved in teaching both at the Bachelor's level and at the Master's level in the field of human and economic geography. In the Bachelor area, the focus is on teaching the basics and methods of human geography. In the Master area, the focus is on the geographies of socio-economic sustainability transformations.

The working time of 20 hours per week includes teaching duties of, on average, 7 semester hours of academic teaching.

Task description:


	You independently conduct courses at the Bachelor's and Master's level in the field of human and economic geography in German and English language
	You supervise papers of students in Bachelor's courses and Master's theses (on the basis of the statutes of the University of Vienna)
	You actively contribute to (further) developing course and exam formats (including digital teaching and learning opportunities)
	The ongoing reception of the current state of science as well as didactic further education and taking over research tasks are expected
	In addition, the egagement in administrative activities, especially in the administration of teaching, is part of the task profile


Preconditions for an application / terms of admission:


	Completed doctorate in the subject area
	Several years of independent, professionally relevant, and well-evaluated teaching at a post-secondary educational institution
	Very good didactic skills (including digital formats) and the critical use of AI tools in teaching
	Knowledge of methods (quantitative, qualitative)

The School (ranked in the top 150 in the world) is one of New Zealand's most innovative, research and practice-led academic groups encompassing exercise science; sport development, physical education; and human nutrition and dietetics. The School delivers excellence in research, teaching and professional practice and this multi-disciplinary approach enables us to be a key influencer on human health and physical development throughout the lifecycle. To further its pursuit of excellence the School is working towards ESSA accreditation for its Exercise Science specialization and seeks applicants that can support this exciting development.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the School's teaching and learning, and research outcomes, for the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise (BSpEx) undergraduate and BHlthSci (Sport and Exercise) postgraduate qualifications. Research: Contribute to successful grant applications and a vibrant research culture. Supervise postgraduate research activity.

About the opportunity

The Sydney School of Health Sciences is in a period of exciting and significant investment by the Faculty of Medicine and Health. The Discipline of Medical Imaging Science offers undergraduate and postgraduate Diagnostic Radiography programs and a Master of Medical Imaging Science with CT, MRI, Breast and Nuclear Medicine Hybrid Imaging specialisations. In 2021 we moved to the new Susan Wakil Health Building at the Camperdown campus and established new practical teaching spaces and equipment.

The University of Sydney is seeking to appoint Lecturer (Education focused- Level B) in Medical Imaging Science who are passionate about improving health outcomes and health equity in the local, national and global communities through medical imaging science. The incumbent will significantly contribute to teaching and learning practice, design, and evaluation within their Academic School, with a focus on coaching and developing students in providing best-practice patient care using a simulated or clinical setting.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	Contribute to the discipline's outstanding educational design, delivery, evaluation and outcomes
	Apply current clinical knowledge and expertise to innovate teaching and learning
	Work as an effective team member and, as required, coordinate units of study
	Contribute to the education and administrative activities of the School

About you


	Significant recent clinical expertise across diagnostic radiography, including general X-ray and specialised modalities, e.g., CT, mobile imaging, and theatre radiography
	Significant experience working in a clinical setting and proven ability to apply expertise and knowledge to inform pedagogical practice (usually more than three years post accredited primary healthcare qualification)
	Experience supervising students in clinical placement or work integrated learning environments, including the assessment of clinical competence
	Experience and training in teaching and learning in a tertiary or healthcare environment, as evidenced by student coaching and skills development
	Demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives with a clinical focus
	Demonstrated capacity to interact, stimulate, actively engage and educate students in the delivery of safe person-centred and evidence-based patient care
	Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with academic, clinical partners and other stakeholders
	A diagnostic radiographer registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) who holds a relevant NSW radiation EPA licence
	A relevant postgraduate qualification; a master's degree would be desirable
