Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University was founded in 1957 and is a state university in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. 

Named after the political philosopher Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, the university reflects the region¡¯s rich cultural and intellectual heritage and draws inspiration from figures such as Gautam Buddha, Sant Kabir and Guru Gorakshnath. 

The university spans 191 acres across two campuses and comprises eight faculties with 40 departments, alongside four specialised institutes. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University offers more than 130 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, covering agriculture, arts, commerce, engineering, law, medicine, science and education. It also affiliates over 350 colleges across three districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Facilities include an automated central library, ICT-enabled classrooms, modern laboratories, an incubation centre, health services, separate hostels, sports and cultural infrastructure, and a sustainable, gender-sensitive campus. 

The university also runs outreach and extension programmes, fosters industry collaborations and supports student placements in leading organisations.
