About the Role You will undertake teaching duties mostly within the Leadership, Management and Strategic Capability Group, and across the Centre for Defence and Security Management & Informatics as required. Specifically: Ensuring the development and the delivery of a range of educational products and modules on the Capability and Acquisition (CAPAC) Course Contribute to the delivery of Private Venture (PV) short courses in the United Kingdom and Overseas Contribute to the delivery of Academic Provider (AP) contract in the United Kingdom, overseas and online Planning and delivering teaching and contributing to the design or revision of courses and short courses Ensuring that the group is suitably represented across the Centre and beyond. Supervising post-graduate students at Master’s and PhD level About You You will have an MSc in a topic related to Defence and Security or MBA and significant experience in the field of defence gained whilst serving in a senior military role / defence civil service.  You will have a teaching qualification (FHEA) or a willingness to undertake this. You will contribute to course development, module design and teaching at Master’s Level or equivalent. You will have work experience within the Defence or wider security sectors of the UK or an allied state. About the Role The Lecturer in Entrepreneurship will be part of the Bettany Centre team and take an active role in delivering and leading entrepreneurship teaching and events. This includes teaching on graduate programmes. In addition, this role involves organising and taking part in entrepreneurship-related events, activities and competitions, both in person and to support students. About You The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, and have a demonstrable entrepreneurial track record (e.g. founder, co-founder or senior operator/advisor in a venture-backed or high-growth business), or hold a Master’s degree or equivalent experience. They will have evidence of ability in teaching, training, coaching or presenting. They will have previously worked with entrepreneurs and advisors in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. They will have experience organising or coordinating professional or academic events (e.g. workshops, competitions, speaker series, or similar). The successful candidate will join our Advanced Sensors team and contribute to the 5-year Leverhulme Research Leadership Award project, Sensing Wastewater for Real-Time Public Health. About the Role The postholder’s primary responsibility is to conduct cutting-edge research on a new class of biochemical sensor development for wastewater, especially on the single-cell and single molecule detection, utilising state-of-the-art facilities in the Advanced Sensors Laboratory at Cranfield University. Cranfield University has a proud reputation for its research on the science, engineering and management of water, and we have been driving innovation for over 40 years. You will contribute to the delivery of Cranfield University’s research portfolio in the Advanced Sensors Laboratory for Water-Environment-Health, led by Professor Zhugen Yang. The group’s pioneering work on wastewater sensing, especially on origami-paper microfluidics sensors, has garnered significant national and international recognition, including features in Science and prominent media outlets such as BBC. The origami-paper device is currently featured at the London Science Museum. The project also involved partnership from world-leading institutions, such as Harvard University on droplets technology, and industrial sectors. About You You will hold a doctoral degree (or close to completion) in biosensing, microfluidics, environmental science, microbiology, or a related discipline. You will have demonstrable experience with experimental skillsets, including sensor development, wastewater surveillance, or reverse inference modelling for source tracking. You will bring laboratory expertise in designing experiments, handling advanced instruments, and troubleshooting. Collaboration and mentoring within interdisciplinary teams are also desirable.
