CECOS University of IT and Emerging Sciences is a co-educational, private university in the city of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. There are seven departments, including civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture, management science, computer science and biotechnology. Established in 1986 as the CECOS Data Institute, it started with just five computers and a handful of students. In 2001, the institution was chartered as a university and has since expanded to over 3,000 students enrolled and over 250 employees, while more than 22,000 students have benefitted from CECOS educational institutions. In 1998, CECOS opened the CECOS London College of Information Technology and Management, to conduct split degree programmes, facilitate credit transfer of their students to American and European Universities and to market the software developed at the university. The university has signed memorandums of understanding with a dozen international universities, such as the Sichuan University of Science and Technology in China, Kangwan National University in South Korea and the Discrete Event System Laboratory at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in the USA. The university is spread across four campuses and is in the process of establishing the CECOS University Islamabad Campus. The CECOS Industrial Liaison Centre (CILC) aims to strengthen long term relationships between industries and firms with academics. It is comprised of engineering workshops and laboratories in electrical, electronics, mechanical and micro-processing. In 2015, the university unveiled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa鈥檚 first power plant that converts waste into energy. CECOS provides merit scholarships and financial assistance to students in need. The colours of the university are maroon and navy blue.
