Benha National University (BNU) was established by Presidential Decree No. 369 of 2022 as part of the country’s development of fourth-generation universities. The university began delivering programmes in the 2022/2023 academic year, initially opening with a small number of faculties before expanding through subsequent ministerial decrees.
The university is located in Al-Obour City, within Qalyubia Governorate, an urban area situated near Cairo in the Nile Delta region. Its purpose-built campus extends over approximately 40 acres and includes six academic buildings, a central laboratories building, and two workshops, as well as recreational areas and sports fields.
Today, the university consists of seven colleges: College of Medicine, College of Dentistry, College of Physical Therapy, College of Engineering, College of Applied Health Sciences Technology, College of Economics and Business Administration, and College of Computer Science. Within each college are different departments, offering a variety of degree programmes at both undergraduate and graduate level.
