Al-Kitab University

Al-Kitab University was founded in 2012.
Al-Kitab University started with three scientific departments: computer engineering, law and financial sciences and banking.
There are now nine faculties: dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, engineering, medical techniques, engineering techniques, finance and administrative science, education, and law. 
Al-Kitab University is located in a beautiful and quiet rural area called Altun Kupri, which is located between the two North cities of Erbil and Kirkuk. There are also dormitories for both males and female students.
To help students secure jobs post graduation, Al-Kitab University holds a job fair, which students are encouraged to attend. 
There’s lots of activities for students to get involved in on campus including folklore and music shows, art galleries, seminars, student soirees, and youth camps.
In addition, there’s a sports hub.

About SUSMAT:

The Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMat - RC) is a multidisciplinary research center engaged in the development of advanced biobased products and materials thereof using biotechnological, physical and chemical conversion strategies and engineering processes (b) understanding and controlling their underlying specific functionalities and the structure-properties relationship acting over multiple length scales from the molecular, nano to the macro level and their cross-interactions and (c) utilizing the gathered knowledge and the invented materials to address key technological challenges in Morocco and African continent and assist the transition toward a green and circular economy.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our dynamic team in the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMat-RC) at UM6P. The successful candidate will work on an exciting project focused on extracting and analyzing experimental and computational data to develop predictive models for polymer-based materials. This project aims to leverage computational chemistry techniques and data-driven approaches to optimize the properties of novel polymer-based materials. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in artificial intelligence and machine learning, with demonstrated experience in developing and training neural networks for predictive modeling.

Position Requirements:

The successful candidate is expected to:


	Build and evaluate chemical databases based on experimental and computational data.
	Establish predictive models based on artificial intelligence methods.
	Utilize the developed models to design and optimize the properties of materials.
	Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including chemists and data scientists.
	Maintain detailed records of experimental and computational procedures, results, and observations.
	Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations for conferences and scientific publications.
	Contribute to the generation of new research ideas, participate in grant writing activities, and seek external funding opportunities to support ongoing research projects.
	Contribute on the group’s activities on sustainable materials, (bio)polymers and their applications.
	Participate in the supervision of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students.


Criteria of the candidate:

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:


	PhD in Computational Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
	Strong background in computational chemistry techniques, including molecular dynamics, quantum mechanical simulations, and machine learning.
	Proficiency in programming languages and computational software’s. 
	Strong motivation and passion for research in the field of sustainable materials and materials science. 
	Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
	Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective dissemination of research results.
	Exceptional organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
	Strong commitment to high-quality research and ethical standards.

We are seeking a Research Assistant with a strong passion for inclusive education to support the Centre in developing a research framework and in monitoring and evaluating the Maynooth University Access Programme Student Success Initiative (Sunflower Project). The successful candidate will contribute to the design of the research framework, assist with the ethical approval process, and engage in both quantitative and qualitative research activities.

This role is well suited to a candidate with knowledge of research methods and an interest in equality studies. The appointee will contribute to cutting-edge research focused on understanding and addressing barriers to inclusion in higher education. Experience of working on interdisciplinary research projects is desirable.

Salary:

Research Assistant Level 1 (2026): €34,130 - €35,395 p.a. (3 points) pro rata 0.4FTE

Job Description :

We are seeking two highly motivated Post-Doctoral Fellows (PDF) for a collaborative project between SusMat-RC at UM6P and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Under the supervision of Professor Youssef Habibi, the successful candidates will focus on developing innovative recycling technologies for plastic waste through sustainable physical and/or chemical pathways.

Key duties include:


	Conducting hands-on polymer processing, recycling, and characterization.
	Designing, executing, and analyzing experiments using analytical, spectroscopic, and microscopic techniques.
	Collaborating within an interdisciplinary team of chemists, polymer specialists, and engineers.
	Maintaining detailed experimental records and drafting technical reports, research papers, and conference presentations.
	Contributing to proposal writing and seeking external funding.
	Supervising undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students.
	Traveling abroad for short-term work assignments as required.


Position Requirements:


	Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related areas.
	Hands-on expertise in polymer processing, synthesis, and characterization.
	Strong background in material performance testing and reliability analysis.
	Demonstrated ability to show initiative, work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively.
	Excellent organizational and team-collaboration skills.

	PhD in the subject discipline with relevant experience as a postdoctoral researcher.

The Astrophotonics Program brings together researchers from astronomy, physics and engineering to design, build and test advanced photonic technologies with applications in radio astronomy, optical astronomy, space science, quantum technologies and national security. The group is internationally recognised for its expertise in the long-distance transfer of stabilised photonic timing and communication signals over optical fibre and free-space laser links.

	Significant experience leading research teams and supervising higher degree research (HDR) students and early-career researchers to successful outcomes.
	Expertise in several of the following areas: radio astronomy instrumentation, free-space optical laser communications (terrestrial and/or space applications), and quantum technologies.
	Outstanding leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity, collaboration and research excellence.
