In his HE & me interview聽 (News, 18聽January), Richard Barbrook, senior lecturer in the department of politics and international relations at the University of Westminster and a聽digital democracy and games strategist for the Labour Party, says that he is 鈥渦sing the 1983 [Labour general election] manifesto to think through what it will be like to have a left-wing Labour government鈥.

This is a manifesto famously referred to by the late Gerald Kaufman MP聽as 鈥渢he longest suicide note in history鈥. Its use does not necessarily inspire confidence in a bright socialist future for Britain.
