Children of Gurkhas who have attended school in the UK will now be accepted as home students at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, paying fees of only 拢3,000. There has been growing concern that such children are designated as international students liable for full fees of some 拢10,000. John Phillips, the university's dean of international students and representative for the military education committee for Wales, said: "UWIC is very pleased to be the first university in Wales and, we believe, the first in the UK, to implement this initiative."
