A new 拢32 million library at the University of Leicester has been opened by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. The library, the centrepiece of the university's 拢1 billion development plan, is double the size of the previous building and has already won a clutch of awards. Bob Burgess, the vice-chancellor, said: "The light, the architectural design and the furniture are all excellent ... It really does have a 'wow factor'." The library was remodelled from a facility built in 1975.
