The nation's poor diet could be costing the National Health Service as much as 拢3 billion a year, according to research from the University of Bristol.
In a report for Waitrose, Bristol's David Winter said the bill for the treatment of diet-related diseases could be reduced substantially with an investment in food education in the classroom. Waitrose is calling for 拢25 million - 拢2.50 a pupil - to be spent on improving dietary education.
