Aberdeen University, which celebrates its 500th birthday next year, is planning a host of celebrations throughout the world. These include a ceilidh at Edinburgh's Murrayfield rugby stadium: with touching optimism, former university rector Colin Bell says that there are 35,000 Aberdeen graduates, and if they each bring a friend, the stadium will be full.
