A charitable donation will fund a new initiative on the economic, political and legal dimensions of governance for development in Africa. The School of Oriental and African Studies has received 拢1.4 million from the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, an African initiative established to stimulate debate on good governance across sub-Saharan Africa and elsewhere. The project will be called Governance for Development in Africa. Paul Webley, director of Soas, said: "This gift will have a tremendous impact, not only for Soas, but for the future of Africa."
