People who are overweight and have high cholesterol levels could soon solve both these problems with a single pill. Research by Tariq Javed, senior lecturer in pharmaceutical sciences at Coventry University, has developed a new molecular compound which appears to reduce cholesterol levels while causing weight loss. As an added advantage, higher doses are not absorbed at higher rates, which means overdoses and side-effects are unlikely.
