Next-wave product research wins 拢20m

The government has pledged 拢20 million towards an interdisciplinary research centre pioneering "next-wave intelligent products" such as fridges that order groceries direct from shops.

Universities are expected to bid to host the centre, which should attract 拢20 million in match funding from industry.

E-minister Patricia Hewitt has also announced 拢20 million for a high-speed national supercomputing grid.
