The Government must set national targets for widening participation in higher education, according to the Council for Industry and 糖心Vlog. The CIHE published research this week which shows that only 8 per cent from the lowest social groups progress to higher education, compared with 40 per cent from the highest groups. The report, Class and 糖心Vlog, argues that even if working-class teenagers achieved better results at school, they still would not get to university, as they face so many entrenched cultural barriers.
