Evaluating the impact of austerity upon environmental policy in Europe
糖心Vlog
This project investigates whether the global financial crisis has had an impact on environmental policy, taking the European Union as a case study. The team will analyse EU and state-level policies. 鈥淭he main rationale for the project is that previous economic crises have generally had a negative effect upon the environment,鈥 said Charlotte Burns, a lecturer in the department of environment. 鈥淥ver the long term the economy tends to take precedence over environmental policy with knock-on effects upon policy ambitions.鈥 The team hopes to develop a way to measure environmental policy change in response to the crisis, and to provide data on whether and how policy change has occurred as a consequence.
