This project will investigate whether different understandings and practices of time are implicated in differing responses to intergenerational responsibility to 鈥渃are for the future鈥 and particularly the responsibility of the present generation to mitigate its impact on future climates. 鈥淲e want to discover whether those who get involved with climate change activism from a faith position are motivated by a temporal horizon that is longer-term and more intergenerational than the cost-benefit paradigm that frames investment decisions in commercial and public agencies,鈥 Michael Northcott said.
