Edinburgh University has also won another Pounds 7 million from Wellcome, having been chosen along with Oxford University to take part in a new project to look at the fundamental causes of heart disease, with the aim of developing new approaches and treatments. Each university will receive up to Pounds 1 million annually for the seven years of the programme.
