I was astounded to learn that the University of Michigan has been 鈥渢errorised鈥 by a turkey (The week in higher education, 6 August). One wonders why the faculty didn鈥檛 come out performing the 鈥渢urkey trot鈥, a provocative dance that, according to Andrew F. Smith in The Turkey: An American Story (2006), 鈥渙riginated in Montana in the 1900s鈥 and became the 鈥渋n鈥 dance. The turkey would then have imprinted itself behind the faculty and followed them wherever they wished to go.
