Sine of confusion

Michael Worton, vice-provost of University College London, notes that an explicit commitment to 鈥渋nterdisciplinarity鈥 will help undergraduates studying its new bachelor鈥檚 of arts and sciences 鈥渆xplore complexity鈥 (鈥淏ig picture from all angles鈥, Opinion, 21 February). But given the considerable differences of content, jargon and skills found in, say, mathematics, French and history, how will the 鈥渘ew ways of thinking鈥, which were not previously available, be transmitted to students in the not-too-distant future?
