The first call for proposals for projects and supporting activities under the new 'Preparatory Action on the enhancement of the European industrial potential in the field of Security Research' (PASR 2004) has been published.

Issued on 31 March 2004, the call opens all fields of activity for proposals. Closure is set for 23 June 2004 at 16:00, Brussels local time. Commission sources say they expect to fund six to eight projects under this first call, which has an indicative budget of €13 million.

The work programme for projects and support activities under PASR 2004 is specified in Communication on Security Research, adopted on 3 February 2004. The procedure and selection criteria are specified in the Annex to Decision C(2004)249.

A total budget of €65 million has been earmarked for the entire period of the Preparatory Action (2004-2006), which will lead to a full European Security Research Programme starting in 2007.

The full information on the call, see the Security Research Calls page on the CORDIS website.
