The Centre Universitaire de Formation et de Recherche de Nimes will this year become France's smallest university. The multidisciplinary establishment, known as Un?mes, which is integrated in the European degree structure, offers double-option bachelors and masters in arts, law and economics, linguistics, psychology and sciences. It caters for fewer than 4,000 students compared with more than 50,000 attending the three universities in Montpellier 50km away. It prides itself on its training system "that enables each individual student to determine their own training path and develop their own personal project". It will become the country's 85th university and goes against a France-wide trend of university mergers.
