Twelve first-year students studying materials science and engineering have won Pounds 1,000 bursaries from the Institute of Materials.

The recipients were: Colin Moore (Sheffield University); Daniel Senter (Birmingham); Helen Brown (Manchester Materials Science Centre); Helen Sneddon (Cambridge); John Bufton (Sheffield Hallam); John Elmer (Imperial College); Jonathan Duff (Strathclyde); Kate Wilkinson (Oxford); Marianne Bowry (Liverpool); Peter Henderson (Bath); Robert McKenzie (Leeds); and Thomas Milward (Wales, Swansea).
