Students with disabilities may feel they still face discrimination, but at least things have improved slightly over the past 500 years.

A new history of Glasgow University reveals that in 1476, student Robert Ross was obliged to seek a papal dispensation to be ordained after he was blinded in one eye when struck by a cabbage stalk during a game of football.
