Everything was in hand for the visit of Gillian Shephard to Wolverhampton University on Tuesday. But the frantic activity came to nought when she pulled out at the 11th hour. That meant all the polishing, priming and rehearsing was in vain - to say nothing of vice chancellor Mike Harrison's cancelled holiday to America.
