Located in Kartasura, Sukoharjo, Central Java, Indonesia, within the Solo Raya region, Raden Mas Said State Islamic University Surakarta became a State Islamic University in 2021.
It was originally founded as an Islamic higher education institution and has developed a vision to become a Moderate Global-Local Islamic University.
The university offers 33 undergraduate degrees across five faculties: Adab and Language, Islamic Economics and Business, Islamic Education, Usuluddin and Da’wah, and Sharia.
Postgraduate programmes include master’s and doctoral degrees in Islamic education management, Arabic and English education, Sharia economic law and Islamic education. Professional programmes such as teacher professional education focus on improving teacher qualifications.
Raden Mas Said integrates Islamic values with modern disciplines including data science, biotechnology, digital business and informatics. It promotes 21st-century skills such as digital literacy, entrepreneurship, critical thinking and collaborative learning through initiatives like International Camps and the Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka programme.
The 9.3-hectare campus has eight academic buildings supporting over 22,000 students, a well-equipped library, and advanced digital infrastructure.
The university aims to become a Green Campus and supports student development through multiple units including the Language Unit, IT and Database Unit, Islamic dormitory, Career Development Unit, Business Development Centre and Institute for Research and Community Service.
