Igbinedion University Okada was established in 1999 and was named after its owner and founder Sir Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, a chief and business magnate who, in his 90s, continues as Chancellor.
It is located at Okada in Edo State in the south of Nigeria. It opened with 111 students in colleges of arts and social sciences, business and management studies, health science, law, and natural and applied sciences.?
Subsequent additions have included provision in engineering, pharmacy and nursing, the opening of the University Teaching Hospital in 2003 and the introduction in 2009 of a community service requirement fulfilled during the second year of courses.?

The post is based in the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, and specifically within the MRI Clinical Research Department located in St Thomas’ Hospital.

The School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences are committed to improve the way we deliver healthcare through the use of advanced engineering.

The department has 9 MRI scanners and a catheterisation lab, providing clinical and research MRI services in the areas of cardiac, foetal, neonatal and advanced brain imaging. The facility is embedded within St Thomas’ Hospital. Last year we conducted over 7800 clinical scans, of which over 4500 were recruited to research.

About The Role

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our Cardiac MRI team as a Senior Clinical Support Worker (MRI Facilities). The post aligns with the role defined in the Society of Radiographers (SOR) and NHS England (Health Education) guidance on Developing Career Pathways for diagnostic imaging support worker roles.?

The Senior Clinical Support Worker (MRI Facilities) is responsible for carrying out a range of administrative, clerical, housekeeping and clinical tasks that vary through the day to support the overall imaging services in Cardiovascular MRI. The post holder will greet patients and perform initial ID checks, register patient attendance on EPIC and CRF Manager ? (our current patient management systems) and prepare them for the MRI examination, as well as providing necessary care and support for patients and research participants during and after examinations. The tasks may involve undertaking trolley checks and supporting stocking up activities and undertaking IV cannulation and cannula removal for patients in MRI.?

The postholder will be required to work flexible hours between 0700 – 2000 hours, over a 5-day working week in accordance with the needs of the facility. There are no on-call requirements for this position.

Staff may be asked to participate in duties over the festive period (Christmas and New Year) and therefore may not be able to take the King’s concessionary/closure days around this time. Instead, the entitlement would be provided through time off in lieu. There will also be a requirement to cover weekend lists which are run routinely to help with waiting list pressures. Hence, the post holder must have the flexibility to fully participate in the weekend rota, as well as early and late shifts in the week. Any work over outside the core hours including weekends will be compensated in accordance with the overtime rates applicable.

This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 1 year in the first instance with a potential for an extension, subject to management review. The post is required to be full time on-site in the facility based at St Thomas’ Hospital (i.e., there is no option for working from home).

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:?

	Minimum level 3 qualification, e.g. A levels, AS levels, International Baccalaureate diploma or other technical levels such as NVQ Level 3 qualification, plus work experience in a relevant clinical-related post(s) OR Knowledge and skills gained through work experience in relevant clinical-related posts within health and social care settings
	Experience with IV cannulation or willingness to undergo suitable training
	Knowledge of healthcare safety protocols and infection control procedures and their impact on the environment.?
	Understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and research compliance standards
	Clear spoken and written communication skills with attention to detail, competent in computer use and strong interpersonal and influencing/behavioral skills to interact with multi-disciplinary professionals, patients and research participants?
	Intermediate level of IT skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing high quality patient care including maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations?
	Flexible team-worker who is responsive to colleagues.?
	An understanding of Health & Safety regulations governing area of work, particularly relating to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)?


Desirable criteria


	Evidence of a commitment to professional development including gaining a Care Certificate in Healthcare settings, particularly by working in MRI environment / clinical and research imaging settings
	Certificate of Competency in IV cannulation?
	Knowledge and understanding of safety aspects by acquiring a formal safety training in MRI
	Able and willing to provide support beyond core hours, as required.?

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a strong interest in research, experience in research management and excellent communication and organisation skills to join the Centre for Affective Disorders (CfAD).

The postholder will be responsible for coordinating research operations across a diverse portfolio of projects, including trials involving pharmacological, psychological, digital, and device-based interventions, as well as non-interventional studies. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: research administration, resource coordination and active cross-team communication to ensure timely and effective delivery of projects.
