Amol University of Special Modern Technologies began its initial activities as the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine under Mazandaran University in 2009. In 2013, with the final approval from the Development Council of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, it was officially upgraded to Amol University of Special Modern Technologies.
The university was established as part of Iran’s national strategy to promote innovation and high-tech education in the northern region of the country.
Located in the historic city of Amol in Mazandaran Province, the university has rapidly grown into one of the area’s leading higher education institutions, known for its focus on applied sciences, interdisciplinary research, and forward-thinking curriculum.
The university’s modern campus lies between the Caspian Sea and the Alborz Mountains, offering a unique setting that blends natural beauty with advanced academic facilities. It is equipped with labs, digital libraries, and innovation hubs.
When the university first began its operations, it offered just six undergraduate programmes in animal science, food hygiene and control, aromatic herbal products, veterinary laboratory sciences, meat health and inspection, and engineering and modern technologies. It has since expanded and now consists of four main faculties: Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Biotechnology, Faculty of Medicinal Plants, and the Faculty of Engineering Modern Technologies. There are 27 departments across all four faculties, offering a range of degree programmes at both undergraduate and graduate level.
