Gervase Phinn, educationist and children's author, has been appointed visiting professor.

University of Oxford

Hermione Lee, professor of English literature at the University of York, has been appointed to the Goldsmiths' chair of Englishliterature succeeding Emrys Jones in October 1998. She will also be a fellow of New College.
